    Meeting in regular session, Thursday, August 16, 2018 the Planning Commission heard a McLaren Northern Michigan hospital construction update and forwarded to City Council its recommendation to approve the 2019-2024 Capital Improvements Plan.

    Weekly Rubbish Collection

    Fall collection will be for a period of two weeks in late August/early September.  This four-week-long program will provide collection services to residents located West of Howard Street on Tuesdays and to residents East of Howard Street on Wednesdays. 

    Rubbish drop-off services will be provided for Bay Harbor residents.

    Now accepting applications for Citizen Academy

    The Department of Public Safety is hosting its 8th Annual Citizen Academy September 6, 2018- October 25, 2018. Classes will be every Thursday night from 6:30 PM- 9:30 PM. This Citizen Academy is free and is designed to give the community a better knowledge of the Public Safety Department's operations and procedures. Participants will receive instruction in several areas including criminal law, interviewing and interrogation, fire operations, emergency medical services, and more. Applications can be found at the Public Safety office or on our website www.petoskey.us and emailed to Chief Breed at mbreed@petoskey.us. For more information, please call 231-347-2500.

    Petoskey Public Safety 2018 Water Ball Competition

    Please join us for a spirited competition as local police and fire departments battle it out! Winners will have their names engraved on the Petoskey Department of Public Safety Water Ball trophy and possess bragging rights until 2019! This year, graduates of the Citizen's Academy are welcome to join as well. To register a team of two, please contact Lt. Troxel at (231) 347-2500. The competition will take place Saturday August 18, 2018 beginning at 2:00 PM behind the Fire Station at 100 West Lake Street and is open to the public.  We hope to see you there!

    Downtown Farmers Market

    The Downtown Petoskey Farmer's Market is back again this summer and will be held every Friday from June 15th to September 28th, from 8:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. in the 400 block of Howard Street between Mitchell and Michigan Streets (between J.C. Penney's and Julienne Tomatoes). Streets will be closed off to welcome local producers and the bounty of fresh items that they have to offer. Stop by and find everything that you would need for a wonderful meal, from organic meats to fresh fruits and vegetables, and even flowers to finish the table off.
