Code Enforcement

The City of Petoskey recognizes that neighborhood property maintenance is important to sustain home values, discourage crime, and increase community pride.   To assist with this, the City Council has adopted ordinances addressing concerns such as grass, weed, and vegetation issues; garbage/rubbish; trailer violations; unlicensed or disabled vehicles; sign violations; front yard parking; dumpster problems; and unsafe or unsecured buildings, among other violations.

The City's Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for enforcing all ordinances adopted by the City Council.   The Code Enforcement Officer is supervised by the Director of Public Safety but also works closely with other departments such as Planning and Zoning and the City Clerk.
