At its regular meeting August 30, as a replacement for the September 6 Labor Day holiday meeting date, the City Council:

  • Authorized purchase of a truck chassis unit from Mi-Deal State of Michigan Purchase Contract for $98,100 and authorized a contract with Truck & Trailer Specialists, Boyne Falls, for its body and attachments for $66,285;
  • Heard a presentation by Nick White, NJ White Associates, Petoskey, concerning construction plan updates for the Public Safety Station West facility that included additional space requirements and authorized the City Manager to proceed with a manufactured building for the station's construction in lieu of the utilizing the existing concrete structure;
  • Approved the 2011-2015 Capital Improvements Program and 2010 Sidewalk Plan as had been recommended by the Planning Commission;
  • Heard a presentation by Vic Cooperwasser, Tetra Tech, Ann Arbor, concerning a Water and Sewer Rate and System Development Charge Study and deferred further consideration of a proposed resolution that would approve establishing water system and sanitary sewer system charges for the next four fiscal years until its September 20 meeting;
  • Conducted a first reading and tabled action concerning a proposed ordinance that would amend 8.1, On-Premise Signs;
  • Conducted a first reading and considered a proposed ordinance that would amend portions of Ordinance No. 674 of the City of Petoskey Code of Ordinances related to "Municipal Civil Infractions" to add Ordinance 716 International Property Maintenance Code violations;
  • Authorized a Kraus Road Cell Tower Lease Agreement Amendment with New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC, Alpharetta, Georgia;
  • Authorized a Townsend Road Cell Tower Lease Agreement with DCS TOWER SUB, LLC, Boca Raton, Florida;
  • Authorized the City Manager to execute all reasonable contracts and agreements to construct a new east-side well field, make necessary improvements to the Preserve well field and Ingalls Avenue pump house, as well as authorizing the sale of certain real properties to fund said improvements; and
  • Confirmed the Mayor's reappointments to the Planning Commission of Dean Burns, 215 Division Street, and Gary Greenwell, 1048 Emmet Street, with terms expiring August 31, 2013, and confirmed initial appointment to the Planning Commission of Richard Neumann, 604 Bay Street, with term ending August 31, 2011, and Emily Meyerson, 520 Cherry Street, for a term ending August 31, 2013.
