Dear Petoskey Resident,
The reconstruction of Fulton Street, north of Franklin, is slated to begin the first week of September. We anticipate that construction will begin at the intersection of Fulton and Franklin, and proceed north along Fulton to the parking area at Riverview Terrace. The construction work will include new water mains and water services, new sanitary mains and sanitary services, new storm sewer mains and structures. Along with new street reconstruction and paving, new curbs and sidewalks will also be installed.
During this project, we are asking residents who have driveways north of the Fulton and Franklin intersection, to park their vehicles on Bridge Street until temporary access can be restored to driveways. The contractor will attempt to restore access to all driveways each night, but this may not always be possible, and it may be difficult for residents to exit their driveways in the morning, so temporary parking off-site is advisable.
All sanitary and water services will be replaced in the right-of-way. If you are on the freeze list, or if you have old water and sewer services to your residence, replacing these services in conjunction with this project is strongly encouraged. Your contractor will need to coordinate this work with the project contractor, which is MDC Contracting, Inc., of Charlevoix, or arrangements can be made with MDC Contracting to do this work. The project coordinator for MDC Contracting is Vince Carpenter, and he can be contacted at (231) 547-6595.
We appreciate your patience during this project, and if you have any questions or concerns, you can contact Director of Public Works, Mike Robbins, or me at (231) 347-2500.
Sincerely,
William LaCross
Public Works Supervisor
