Mayor John Murphy, 64, was elected to serve as Mayor for the City of Petoskey in 2016.  Mayor Murphy was first elected to serve a two-year Councilmember term by Second Ward residents that began in 2013 and again in 2015. He has also served on the City of Petoskey's Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Commission.  Mayor Murphy is an Educational Consultant with Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC).  He holds a Master's Degree in Education and attended Grand Valley State University, Central Michigan University and North Central Michigan College.  He has two adult children Colin and Morgan. Kate Marshall

Councilmember Marshall, 71, had served First Ward residents from 1996-2000, and again was elected to serve a two-year term beginning in 2012, 2014 and again in 2016.  Councilmember Marshall also served a three year term as Mayor from 2001-2003. Councilmember Marshall is co-owner of American Spoon Foods. She holds two Masters Degrees in Education and Fine Arts from the University of Detroit and Wayne State University. Councilmember Marshall has served as an Election Inspector for the City of Petoskey and is a former City of Petoskey Planning Commission member. Izzy Lyman

 

Ward 2 Representative

Councilmember Izzy Lyman, 59, was elected to serve as Second Ward Councilmember for the City of Petoskey in 2016. Councilmember Lyman has also served as a Precinct Delegate, Executive Board member of the Emmet County Republican Party, graduate of the City of Petoskey Public Safety Citizen Academy and regularly works out at the North Central Michigan College fitness center. Councilmember Lyman is journalist/online college professor. She holds a Ph.D. from Universidad de San Jose, Costa Rica & MSSc Syracuse University in Social Science and BS in Communications from Florida State University. Grant Dittmar

 

Ward 3 Representative

Councilmember Dittmar, 64, was first elected to serve a two-year term by Third Ward residents that began in 2012, 2014 and again in 2016. Councilmember Dittmar owns and operates Dittmar's Timepieces (Chronotech), established in Petoskey since 1978. He holds a B.S.E in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan. Mr. Dittmar has volunteered time and equipment to help produce over 150 videos of City meetings for TV and the Internet. He is also Council President of his church, and performs trumpet with the Jordan Valley Band. Councilmember Dittmar has resided in the City of Petoskey for 59 years. He may be reached at:

Jeremy Wills, DDS

 

Ward 4 Representative

Councilmember Wills, 68, was first elected to serve a two-year term by Fourth Ward residents that began in 1989-2003, and again was elected to serve a two-year term beginning in 2001-2003, and again in 2007, 2012 and 2014. Councilmember Wills serves as Mayor Protempore. Councilmember Wills also served as Mayor from 1994-1999 and again in 2004. Councilmember Wills is a Dentist and holds a DDS degree from University of Detroit. He and his spouse, Kim, have four children. Councilmember Wills has resided in the City of Petoskey for 38 years.
