The City of Petoskey and its Department of Public Safety are pleased to announce the promotion of Adrian (Rocky) Karr from the rank of Public Safety Officer to the rank of Lieutenant.  Lieutenant Karr joined the Department of Public Safety in November, 2004, and served previously as a Public Safety Officer for the Bloomfield Hills Public Safety Department for six years.

Lieutenant Karr has a Bachelors Degree from Lake Superior State University in Criminal Justice, is a certified Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician, and has specialized training in Interviewing and Interrogation, Pressure Point Control Tactics, Pharmaceutical Drug Diversion, Forensic Interviewing, Explosives Awareness, and Rapid Intervention Tactics.  He also is a certified Motor Carrier Officer.  Lieutenant Karr was chosen from a field of seven applicants for this position and will initially be assigned to night-shift road patrol.
