US-31 Corridor Traffic Issues Discussed
Meeting in special-session Monday afternoon with the Bay Harbor Community Council, the City Council heard a presentation by Michigan Department of Transportation officials concerning traffic issues in the US-31 corridor adjacent to the Bay Harbor development area that included traffic statistics and proposed 2015 improvements to the corridor area with construction of three lanes from Lake Grove Road to Eppler Road, a potential traffic signal at Greenwood Road, and the possible narrowing of US-31 in this area from four lanes to three lanes from US-131 to the Emmet County Fairgrounds. A July 15 meeting has been scheduled at the Resort Township Hall to continue discussions of possible improvements to the US-31 corridor, as well as an upcoming meeting in August to discuss an April, 2010, US-31 speed study.
