May 4 School Election
The City will be holding the School's election on Tuesday, May 4, with polls open from 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. On the ballot is election of one Petoskey School District Board member and a proposal for the renewal of its operating millage. The Char-Em ISD also has a proposal on the ballot for renewal of its millage to continue a levy for vocational-technical education.
Zoning Board Meeting Canceled
Because there are no business items pending for its agenda, Tuesday's May 4 monthly meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals has been canceled. The Board is next scheduled to meet at 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 1.
City Council Meets April 28
The City Council met in special session April 28 and heard a presentation from City consultants Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber, Inc., Farmington Hills, and Hubble, Roth & Clark, Inc., Grand Rapids, concerning the possible acceptance of leachate at the City's wastewater treatment plant.
Bear River Improvements

The Bear River Valley Recreation Area is nearing completion and will be ready for use in 2011. The final step before beginning improvements occurred on April 19th, 2010 when the City of Petoskey's Building Authority Board of Commissioners awarded the sale of bonds to fund the project. The projected cost of this project is $2,403,000.00.
