Spring Residential Rubbish-Collection Program Begins Next Week

The City's weekly residential rubbish-collection program will begin next week at  residences  west   of  Howard  Street  on Tuesday, May 18, followed by collections from residences east of Howard Street on Wednesday, May 19.  Tuesday and Wednesday collections will continue through June 8 and 9, respectively, as part of the City's new Spring and Fall collection programs.  The Fall collection will begin September 7 and 8 for a two-week period ending September 14 and 15.    Drop-off sites will be available to Bay Harbor residents at the east and west ends of Bay Harbor each weekend, beginning May 21 through June 11, and again September 10 and 17.

In addition to maintaining streets and providing water, sewer, and electric-utility services, the Department of Public Works staff also supplies and maintains all City-owned motorized vehicles and equipment through a motor-pool operation, and oversees major construction projects and other capital improvements.  Department of Parks and Recreation personnel assist Department of Public Works staff members with maintenance of various City-owned and -controlled downtown-area facilities and assist the Public Works staff and contractors with a City-wide forestry program.  (Department of Parks and Recreation staff members, in some cases assisted by contractors, are responsible for maintaining City-owned buildings and grounds.)
