The Purpose:
The Petoskey Department of Public Safety's Citizen Academy was created to provide information to our citizens so that they may better understand the operations of the department. It is hoped that the instruction will increase public safety awareness while decreasing misperceptions. We hope to enhance our community rapport through this educational process. The department in turn becomes more aware of the feelings and concerns of our community from the interaction and input gained from the participants.
Topics:
The Petoskey Department of Public Safety's Citizen Academy will cover a variety of topics, including: communications, patrol operations, fire operations, emergency medical services, crime scene investigation, and interviewing and interrogation. Instruction in these and other topics will consist of lectures, demonstrations, tours, and hands-on experiences.
