2012 Howard Street Improvement Project
INVITATION TO BID
Sealed bids for the installation of +/- 190 feet of Sanitary Sewer, +/- 170 feet of Storm Sewer, +/- 1,800 feet of Water Main, +/- 14,000 square feet of Concrete Sidewalk, +/- 800 feet of Concreet Curb & Gutter, +/- 1,200 tons of HMA Pavement, (2) Sanitary Manhole structures, (7) Storm Manhole structures, and other related appurtenances, clean-up, services, work and materials will be received at the Office of the City Clerk, City of Petoskey, 101 East Lake Street, Petoskey, MI 49770 until 2:00 PM local time, February 15, 2012, at which time the proposals will be opened and read. The bid opening is open to the public. NO BIDS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 2:00 PM.
Bid documents, plans and specifications may be reviewed at City Hall, 101 East Lake Street, Petoskey, Michigan, or may be obtained at www.petoskey.us/bids. A pre-bid meeting will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at City Hall, 101 East Lake Street.
The City of Petoskey will pre-qualify contractors who wish to bid on the project. Subcontractors will be required to be pre-qualified also. The Project Manual contains a "Bidder Prequalification Statement" which must be completed and submitted by prospective bidders to William LaCross, DPW Supervisor office no later than 2:00 PM, Monday, February 6, 2012. A bidder needs only to submit the "Bidder Prequalification Statement" once per calendar year. If previsously submitted, this step will not be necessary.
The successful bidder shall be required to enter into contract with the City of Petoskey and to provide proof of Workers Compensation and Public Liability insurances.
Please submit your bid in a sealed envelope clearly marked with "City of Petoskey - 2012 Howard Street Improvements". The name of the company submitting the bid must also be clearly marked on the outside of the envelope.
The City of Petoskey reservers the right to accept or reject any or all proposals and to award the bidder whose bid best serves the interest of the City. Questions regarding the project may be addressed to William LaCross, Public Works Supervisor, at 231-347-2500. The Owner is not obligated to accept the low bidder's proposal. The contract completion date is August 15, 2012.
No proposal may be withdrawn for a period of 60 days from the day of the bid opening. All proposals shall include a bid bond or bank letter of credit in the amount of 5% of the contract amount.
